Ceramics in collaboration with &ZEE

Together with Maxime Blankenzee, I collaborated on a series of unique ceramic objects. Maxime is a friend and ceramicist based in Utrecht. In her work she often experiments with different techniques and colours, mainly working with glazed and slipped stoneware. In this project we aimed to combine my linocut works with her slipped stoneware techniques. She produced two wheelthrown cups and a wheelthrown pot. We applied a heavily pigmented layer of slip to enhance the contrast between the carving and the sliplayer. When the sliplayer was in a leatherhard state I carved out the patterns using an old linocut tool. After this the cups and pot were glazed on the insde, the cups were also glazed on the outside.

The blue cup is sold, the black cup is available for € 25,- and the blue pot is still available for € 35,-

Two Zero Two One – collaboration with Pallavi Subhash and Taro Sakamoto

For the international exhibition Two Zero Two One, held in the Tasmai Gallery in Pondicherry (India) I collaborated with Pallavi Subhash and Taro Sakamoto on a series of mixed media works. Each of us initiated one of the works which was then shipped on to the other artist who would continue to work on it.

Project Electricity Boxes – Utrecht

As part of the street-art project Van Kastje naar Canvasje (from utility box to canvas) I painted a design for an electricity box. The project is an initiative by Thirty030 to turn the ugly grey utility boxes into artworks. In this pilot project eighteen electricity boxes in the city centre of Utrecht will be painted by eighteen local artists such as JanIsDeMan and Teddies in Space. The box I painted is located at the Oude Gracht 320 in Utrecht.

The project was covered by several local news agencies including DUIC (click here for the link).

The boxes can be found in the IZI travel app where you can follow a free audio tour which takes you to all eighteen boxes (click here for the audio tour).

Artist in Residence – Helmond Landgoed Leonardus

In Oktober 2020 I stayed for three weeks in Helmond as part of an artist in residence programme. During my stay I transformed one of the rooms into an exhibition space where I showed my work. I opened up the studio as a more or less permanent ‘open studio’ where I invited people to show them my work as well as my process.

The Eindhovens Dagblad published an article about the Residency (click here for the link).

Pakje Kunst

Pakje Kunst is a new Art-o-mat initiative. In this project old cigarette vending machines have been converted to vend art. Participating artists create small artworks which could fit in a pack of cigattes. For this project I created a series of small linocuts. In each pack you will find two small original linocuts. My works are included in the Pakje Kunst machine which is located in the Stay-Okay at the Neude in Utrecht.
